FOREIGN-LANGUAGE PRODUCTION

Foreign-language projects elsewhere in my portfolio: the abovementioned multilingual verb-table template and multilingual type specimen. My hard portfolio includes procedures, specifications, and editorial style guidelines that I developed for setting technical data sheets in Russian.

I’m accustomed to working in detail with foreign typographic and editorial conventions. I read and speak French, read Italian, German, and Latin, and have a lesser but useful reading knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese. I could once read Russian and Greek, and can still transcribe copy accurately in those languages.

WEB

The best showing of what I can (and can’t) do with the Web is CrystalResumes.com, the website for my resumé writing business. I designed and produced the site myself, from scratch (no templates or borrowed code). The first version of the site, in 2008, was done with Dreamweaver. When I re-did the site in 2017 to make it mobile-friendly, I hand-coded all the work, using BBEdit. I did all the SEO myself. (Some of the SEO advice I got from others, from Google, or from books would have cost me a lot of money on unprofitable clicks with pay-per-click advertising.) I have a hands-on site management plan with MDD Hosting.

The site you’re looking at now is not a good example of my current abilities. I built it (by hand, with BBEdit) in straight HTML4, with no CSS. (CSS was just coming in then.) I never updated it to CSS or RWD because I did no freelancing for ten years, being exclusively occupied with the resumé business. I don’t know when I’ll have the time.
